Given Up... [Mar. 30th, 2005|08:07 pm]
[Current Mood |depresseddepressed]
[Current Music |NO mp3s...]

I have given up trying to repair my pc.
So whats the next step?

FORMAT C:\..

Didn't want to reformat it at first cos there are still some things that I didn't have the time to burn into the CD. I had SPAWN Comics from the first issue till issue no. 130 on my hard disk and now I had to redownload it again.. Haiz..

Well, both of us caught the flu and feeling very miserable right now. Forced myself to go to work in the morning just now. Now I'll just have I nice well deserved rest...

I got this job. Pays me $7 an hour to do research from the internet. And the best part of all, I get to work from home during weekends and I could just clock in any time I want.. heh heh..

This malay song from the group Spider is really catchy. It's something like a ska, swinging 60s type of song and really perks up my mood.. Listening to this song makes me feel like I can do this job all night.. Hmm.. More hours = more moollahs.. hehehe..

[Current Music |Something Corporate - Punk Rock Princess]

Oh gosh.. The star wars episode three trailer really makes my mouth water, I had to put a bucket underneath my chin. It would be very interesting to see how Anakin would transform into Darth Vader.. Woohoo..!!

Do secondary schools really give out Tablet PCs for students' usage nowadays? Saw the MOE teacher's commercial on tv just now and there it was, students on a nature trail bridge writing or drawing stuffs on their tablets.. Must be a rich school.. Wished I was in that school.. heh heh..

She just called me.. Her cat is very very sick.. I'm just praying that the cat will pull through..

[Current Music |The Beautiful Mistake - My Reminder]

I'm currently reading two books at the same time.. One, Clive Cussler's Trojan Odyssey in ebook format, when I'm at the computer, and another, Clive Cussler's Serpent, loaned from the library for reading when I'm on the bus or train. And sometimes I get the facts mixed up, wait, did this character went to Morrocco or that character went to Nicaragua? heh heh.. I know I'm crazy.. Just don't remind me... =p

Of course I have the 'Serpent' book on ebook format, but kind of hard lugging the monitor and desktop around right? *lame* Even a laptop would be bulky.. I guess I need a PDA.. *hint hint* hehe =p Anyone know where to buy a second hand one cheap?

The deadline grows nearer.. Everytime I think of it, feels me with dread.. I used to think of it as something which could be averted or even cancelled. But now, it seems like a certainity. As April draws nearer, my heart aches, waiting for the eventuality to come.

The miles will pull apart,
and I will not lose sight
Of the gift, that I've been handed
Been blessed so much but why?
  I feel so undeserving,
but I wanted you to know
You're the brightest shining star I've ever seen

emotional sessions [Mar. 9th, 2005|08:31 pm]
[Current Mood |emotional]
[Current Music |Ray Charles - Sorry seems to be the hardest word]

I'm listening to Ray Charles - Genius Loves Company. Its a compilation of duet songs that he sang with various artists just before he passed away. This album totally blew me away. From the blues track, "sweet potato pie" with James Taylor to the tear-jerking "sorry seems to be the hardest word" with Elton John, the soulful voice of Ray Charles and the rest just makes me want to listen more. Oooh, what a feeling..

Watched Hitch with my other half yesterday. It was a great romantic comedy. The way Will Smith's caracther teaches guys on how to create chances to get the woman they want, looks so very easy. It also has some heart wrenching scenes where I think only guys would understand.. =)

It seems to be an emotional week for me.. heh heh.. I'm missing my macushla now.. Waiting for her to reach home from giving tuitions.. All I need now is patience...

What have I got to do to make you love me
What have I got to do to make you care
What do I do when lightning strikes me
And I wake to find that you're not there

The burden's gone... [Mar. 5th, 2005|07:26 am]

[Current Music |Brandtson - you do the science]

Finally, school and assignments are all over.. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.. Goodbye to days of not sleeping properly or at all.. I wish I could sleep the whole day today. heh heh.

I've got a mini library in my computer right now. 7000++ books in all. God knows how long I'll be able to finish reading all those story books. Maybe I'll be blind from the computer screen radiation by that time. heh.

But the good part is that I don't need to go to the library that often now. And to think I just had my account upgraded from being able to borrow 4 books to 8 books max. Nevermind, I shall use it to borrow more DVDs. heh heh.

Ahh.. I wanna enjoy my sudden freedom.. Well, not so sudden actually, but I really do need this break.. Can't wait to meet her later on in the day.. =) Gonna get prepared now.. =)

Its been so long.. [Feb. 13th, 2005|01:00 pm]

[Current Music |Husker Du - Something I Learned Today]

Okay, I know I've not updated my journal for very long. I've been quite busy with assignments and survey work. And I've started playing Yahoo Mahjong to relieve stress.. heh heh.. Nice game although I still don't understand how the scoring system works.

Watched Constantine with my macushla and the rest during the festive holidays. The movie was really good, with nice effects and interesting storyline. Went home straight after that because her leg was still hurting after her fall from her bicycle last week. And yet she still can forget to put on her ointment almost everyday. Haiz.. I hope she gets well soon and always remember to put the ointment on..

And about the last post, to those people who have used bittorrent, emule, irc downloads, kazaa, napster, or whatever p2p or download client before, please support the movement. Show them the power of the consumer..

Attention to all those who used p2p before [Feb. 10th, 2005|09:39 pm]
[Current Mood |tiredtired]
[Current Music |Planes Mistaken For Stars - staggerswallowswell]

A call to all P2P users

As of late the MPAA's and RIAA's of the world are claiming that we are denying them their justly earned money and are trying to find ways to put an end to this supposed loss through litigation. It would seem that their scare tactics have been fruitful as they keep getting settlements out of court and probably generate even more profit from these activities.

The aim of their campaign, of course, is not to target and eradicate file sharing as much as it is an attempt to control the market and dictate where and on what our hard earned money is spent. The wealthiest, nowadays, decide what we listen to and watch using staggering public relations campaigns; most releases are "format" productions where talent, passion and creativity come after profits and greed. Most of us feel that they should look into wider availability and more affordable pricing instead of claiming higher moral ground as an excuse to prop up an outdated and failing business model.

Ironically, dramatic theaters, opera houses and so forth are desperately trying to find an audience among the "common" people, as their traditionally highbrow image is not allowing them to be competitive. However, the production companies are working towards a dangerous inaccessibility for regular people. It is natural that we want to be able to watch the movies and listen to the music; it has always been and always will be. Hence, we turn to file sharing, and/or borrow CD's from our friends and so forth.

Availability and affordable prices

How many have bought a CD or watched a movie that turned out to be less than satisfactory? How many have felt cheated after a night out at the movies, having gone there after seeing trailers, commercials, and posters for another big box office release that turned out to be one of those "let's save the movie company a few bucks by fooling people into watching this dud during the first weekend" flicks? How many get sick to their stomachs while hearing about revenue losses after viewing an episode of "Cribs" on MTV? The production companies have the audacity to say that we are using people's creativity and talent, without paying for it. Well, guess what? Most P2P users actually do buy the products they like!

We continue to see fantasy figures about the kind of revenues the production companies would have had, if only their products were not obtainable online. Of course, it is complete and utter nonsense. They seem to be oblivious to the highly human trait they themselves possess: The Experience of Ownership. Everybody wants to own things. A pirated copy can never live up to the experience of a movie theatre or replace the sense of pride that comes from having a collector’s edition sitting on your bookshelf. Even those who the entertainment industry would paint as criminals are consumers too.

To prove this, we call out to all that have shared a file, downloaded something online or think that prices are outrageous; Let us send a message to the entertainment industry leadership.

The last week in April 2005 - 24th up until and including 30th - show them how much money we are spending on their products by denying them our hard earned income. Do not go to the movies; do not buy any entertainment products during that week.

This is not to be confused as saying, "go pirate everything you can find as the production companies are common robbers." Instead, this is a way to show that we are indeed supporting them already, so stop fighting your customers!

Show them we mean business!
Spread the word everywhere you can think of.
